Activities

We hope your stay with us is to rest; to spend quality time together with your family and to experience a stay on a padi field. There is much activities around the cottage that you may wish to enjoy:

Activities around the cottage:

Padi farming: We are situated smack in the padi terraces, with padi fields all around us and some 150m outside the village.  You can experience, at close range, first hand and at your own time, the many activities of padi farming at different times of the season (schedule of activities is a guide only).

  • Preparing the fields for the next planting and ploughing the fields  (February & July)

  • Rice planting and daily maintenance (March and August)

  • Harvesting the padi (January and June)

  • Fishing for eels and rearing fishes in the fields.

Morning walks: A morning stroll/trek through the terraces is refreshing and picturesque.

Relax at the stream: Trek down the terraces (70M) to the shady stream and relax in its natural  environment -shady trees, bamboos, twicks, tiny rapids and boulders included. There is another beautiful spot 1KM away where the stream is broader and the temple background adds a greater sense of serenity.

Temple visit:
Visit the little temple down the path (100 meters). Watch or participate in one of the many temple and cremation ceremonies. Another small temple is by the river. (local procedures and customs need to be observed)

Trekking: You may also trek a kilometer through the padi fields and woods to anther river scene at the temple belonging to a neighbouring village; through the nearby valley of terraces or to Jati Luwih through the village (half a day) or around nearby Gunung Batu Karu (full day + 20 min drive)

Activities within bicycle range:

Bath in the hot springs: Take a healthy bath at one of the two nearby hot springs to rejuvenate yourselves in the mineral-rich waters. You cycle to the hot springs down the road (1km) where there is a small public pool or to Yeh Panas (15min drive or 45 min on a bicycle) where private bath, massage and Spa is available (there is a charge)

Jati Luwih: You may wish to cycle to Jati Luwih (the road is uphill all the way to Jati Luwih)

Activities within short drives:

Gunung Batu Karu: Drive to Wongayagede (20 mins) to visit the beautiful temple on Gunung Batu Karu. Along the drive you will pass through some beautiful scenery of padi fields.

Jati Luwih: Drive through the famous terraces at Jati Luwih. It is a mere 15 minutes drive to the north through our village.

Bedugul: Drive to Jati Luwih, Pacung and Bedugul (the lake district of Bali?). It is a pleasant and relaxing 50 min  drive to Bedugul. There is also a beautiful temple on the lake and a botanic garden in Bedugul. Visit the local market.

Tanah Lot: Drive to Tanah Lot to visit the sacred temple (the most photographed and appears in many postcards of Bali) and experience a great sunset in the evening. It is a 45-minute drive away
